Our mission and faculty
Education Goal
In cooperation with the national information industry upgrade, we have special training programs for information technology professionals to participate in the national economy development and promote the information-related industry of the country. We offer a channel for the students from commercial schools to pursue further education and perpetual learning. We have combined the resources of each area in our school, balanced the area development, and cultivated the local profession.
Education Features
The core subjects of our course design are mathematics and information theory, along with knowledge of computer software and hardware. The final goal is to complete the education for each information technical professional who is conversant with and capable of developing multiple information application systems and internet application technologies. In the meantime, to enhance students'research capabilities, each student has to take the seminar course for one year before graduation.
Faculty
Each professor has a Ph.D. in a computer science related field. Research fields include software engineering, computer networks, natural language processing, computer graphics, data mining, multimedia techniques and applications, etc.
Graduate Prospect
The graduates have huge job opportunities. Not only software developers or hardware equipment producers, but also those enterprises which need information technical service or production assistance will need information technology professionals. The positions will mainly be database programmers, network engineers, system maintenance engineers, MIS engineers, software engineers, etc.
Development of our department
There are three directions for our development, including system integration, network multimedia and AI applications, as follows.
1. System Integration Developing Application Technique
This technique is based on the analysis of Windows and Linux, including calculating hardware construction applications, driver design and software reverse engineering, etc. It also includes technical application courses which are related to real time and embedded systems, such as real time systems, embedded systems, Micro C/OS II, real time and embedded system design and application.
2. Network Multimedia Application Technique
The rising development of network multimedia application techniques eliminates the regional limitation of resource operation; it also achieves the purpose of information circulation, communion of resources and universal application by multimedia interaction.
3. AI Application Technique
The development of AI Application Techniques will extend the traditional calculating application of computer to human information processing and accessory to AI management.
The Evolution of our department
Cultivation of Omni bearing Information Technology Professions
The information technique application professions have to accept information technique training in various fields. We engage in technical theory and technical research, combined with cross-field information system and application research to cultivate Omni bearing information technique application professions. These professionals require training in various fields.
Cross-field Teaching and Research Faculty
The faculty of our department complement the Department of Computer and Communication and the Department of Information Management, as well as other related departments such as business, management, language, academic, etc. These departments have combined to form a cross-field teaching and research team to carry out various information application system and related key technical development. The future increased employment will be based on the cross-field research experience and will enhance the development of our integration research plan. Also, we will continue employing outstanding local and foreign teachers as our visiting-scholars to enhance the level.
Industry-academy Cooperation Partnership with Consideration of Local Development
The establishment of our department is helpful for resolving the current need for a great number of high-tech professionals. Moreover, we can build up good cooperation with the manufacturers in the southern area, such as Tainan Science Park, Luchu Science Park, Kaohsiung Science Park, and Pingtung Science Park which is under development. Our department combines students and teachers from different fields to form a research team focused on the key technical research in order to build up a close partnership with the industry.
