Introduction
Background
The College of Computer Science is a newly established college founded on August 1, 2014, and combined with the computer science related departments (including the Master programs) of National Pingtung University of Education founded in 1946 and National Pingtung Institute of Commerce founded in1991 .The departments and programs of the College of Computer Science include the following.
All departments and programs have been established for many years. Their goals are to foster the required technology professionals for the sustainable development of our information technology industry , to improve the level of university information education , and to balance the development of regional information education.

- To develop information technology professionals with professional knowledge and practical skills.
- To develop cross-cutting integration capabilities of theories, Innovations, and applications.
- To develop abilities of ethics, teamwork, International perspectives, and lifelong learning.
Development Vision
The rapid advance of Information technology and industry has continued to promote the progressive development of computer technology. The speed of computer processor increases four to five times every three years, and helps a new computer system to be used in related technology with complex operations. In recent years, due to the rapid expansion of communications network services, from traditional data transmissions to interactive networks and mobile communications applications, the demand is increasing. To deal with the high demand of information technology professionals for the current society and keep both the development features of higher education and technical and vocational education system, College of Computer Science, National Pingtung University, integrates excellent faculty and equipment of original National Pingtung University of Education and National Pingtung Institute of Commerce to enhance information technology development strength, assist our information industry development, and upgrade students employment force and international competitiveness.

- Diverse learning and pursuit of excellence: in response to the trend of social pluralism and globalization, College of Computer Science fosters our students to learn diversely and to cultivate future competitiveness and employability.
- Industry-academia cooperation and teaching enhancement: College of Computer Science promotes course shunt between academic and practical courses and strengthens Industry-academia cooperation, professional licenses, and extracurricular activities for enhancing quality of teaching and implementation.
- Novel technology and innovative research/development: College of Computer Science encourages all faculty members and students to create a novel and innovative research and development and industry-academia cooperation and to assist in the development of national information and communication industry and technology upgrades.
- International exchanges and sustainable development: College of Computer Science promotes international academic exchanges and exchange students and strengthens interactions among alumni and industry for building foundations of sustainable development.
Practice Enhancement
In an era of globalization, each university competes with each other increasingly. With research and Industry-academia cooperation production, each university would like to get ahead for fostering outstanding professionals with "Knowledge-action Integration", strengthening Industry-academia cooperation practices, accelerating innovation and research and development, and enhancing employment competitiveness of the students. College of Computer Science can provide our faculty members gaining practical experiences and participating Industry-academia cooperation, and increasing the practical expertise and right attitude of the students to avoid gap between knowledge and action. From perspective on "faculty" and "student", College of Computer Science promotes relevant measures to strengthen the practical capacity of faculty and students.
- Faculty: Each department (master program) promotes study service in public and private institutions of faculty members for strengthening practical experience and enhancing their quality of teaching. By communication between faculty and enterprises, each department (master program) explores potential cooperative opportunities, assists in the development of students’ employment markets, and improves employment opportunities. Each department (master program) promotes collaborative teaching with industry experts, promotion of learning between industry experts and faculty, and combination of theory and practice to enhance the value of technical and vocational education.
- Student: Each department (master program) promotes "senior project" and "internships".
- In-campus senior project: with the curriculum and teaching planning in each department (master program), "senior project" course is arranged for the third and fourth year of college, third year of college can choose a faculty member to be his (or her) advisor for the one-year course based on his (or her) future employment direction. The advisor can lead students to execute enterprise project by signing an Industry-academia cooperation contract. Manufacturers can obtain operational and executive improvements from participation of faculty and students to increase the quality of product and sales pipeline.
- Off-campus internship: with the curriculum and teaching planning in each department (master program), the third and fourth year of college can choose a short term, six months or a year, domestic or abroad "off-campus internship". The internship can provide manufacturer training courses for students, learning and experiencing in the workplace, and would be a great help for future employment.
Based on the information of employment of the graduates, the students actively participating in the "senior project" and "internship" courses can find their jobs very quickly and smoothly after graduation.
Development Strategy
- Practical teaching: each department (master program) positions itself and performs practical teaching in higher education and technical and vocational education to enhance student’s employability.
- Innovative procuction: each department (master program) seeks suitable industry partners and strengthens Industry-academia cooperation. By innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial educations, students are encouraged to obtain related professional licenses to improve students’ career planning.
- International perspective: College of Computer Science promotes international cooperation, foreign student recruitment, and study abroad plan and encourages students to apply scholarships of study abroad, overseas sister school exchange, overseas internships, and overseas courses for developing International perspective.
- Internship: by viewing the demand of country and local industry and employment orientation, each department (master program) plans to open the course, "off-campus internships", for third and fourth year of college. The course is a short term, six months or a year, domestic or abroad off-campus internships. The internship can let students physically working in a company and learning and experiencing in the workplace for enhancing students’ future employability.
